Video editing FAQ

Anything not answered here, send it over.

How do we start without a big commitment?
Take the paid test cut. One video, a fixed price, a real deadline. You see the pacing and the communication before any retainer comes up.
What if the first cut is not what I wanted?
That is what the first cut is for. You see it before any polish, so direction gets fixed while it is cheap to fix. Revisions come back as timecoded notes on the frame, and the included revision rounds are listed in the scope before work begins.
Do I own the project files?
Project-file handoff is included where the package lists it or the quote confirms it. Third-party fonts, plugins, music and stock media remain subject to their licences, so any non-transferable dependency is identified before delivery.
How do I pay from outside Nepal?
Payment method, invoicing, file-transfer access and any confidentiality requirements are agreed in writing before the project begins.
How much does it cost to hire a video editor?
Across the freelance market, rates run roughly $20 to $150 an hour, or $150 to $1,500 per finished video. What sets your number is the motion and sound work involved, not the runtime. This studio's rates are published above, so there is no call needed to see them.
What about deposits, pauses, extra work and file storage?
The quote confirms payment milestones, start and renewal dates, cancellation or pause terms, revision timing, archive period and any overage or rush rate. Work outside the listed scope, including advanced motion or extra versions, is approved before it is added.
How long does it take to edit a YouTube video?
What sets the number is not the runtime but the ratio of raw footage to finished minutes. Two hours of rushes cut down to ten minutes is a day of work; twenty hours cut to the same ten is a week. Send that ratio with your brief and you get a real date back.
What video editing software do you use?
DaVinci Resolve for the cut, grade and mix, and After Effects when a shot needs motion graphics. If another editor needs the timeline, the quote can include an XML handoff after any plugin or licensing dependencies are reviewed.
Is this assembly only, or do you shape the story?
The story is shaped in the cut. Hook, structure and pacing are part of every edit here, not an add-on. When you compare editors, confirm whether their scope covers assembly only.
